What So Not announces first US tour in several years
Australian artist What So Not announces he will be touring the United States for the first time in several years.
What So Not, known as Emoh, is heading back to the United States for his first tour in several years. In an announcement on Instagram, the Australian artist shared a multi-slide post with the caption, “Please take a minute to read this I love you all ❤️.”
He announced What So Not’s first proper US tour in years, but prefaced the news with a personal share. Emoh revealed that 2022 was “one of the harder years” of his life — the same year he released his sophomore album, ‘ANOMALY.’
As What So Not, he had been working on ‘ANOMALY‘ for 3 years — but it was more than just an album. It included an animated film, plus “a fully immersive live show,” from his explorations of new technology and concepts.
What So Not poured himself into the project, thinking it would be unlike anything in the dance music scene. However, due to delays, the final result fell apart and “wasn’t even 20% of what it should have been.”
While the project spiraled, Emoh experienced a back injury that affected the way he performed, toured, and made music. On top of everything, his laptop with work from the last decade crashed, despite 3 fail-safes.
The chain of unfortunate events led Emoh to question everything, leaving him hopeless. Amidst massive changes in the music industry, like cancellations, and inflation, he struggled with thoughts of what would come next.
This contemplative state eventually led him to “crawl out of [his] hole” last year. Starting with a rebuilt computer, Emoh discovered new forms of creativity and fixed his back.
He rebuilt his entire project, resulting in 100-hour work weeks. The forthcoming What So Not tour MOTIONS is the result of his hard work from the last year.
Fans can look forward to new sounds and music, along with a fresh approach to issues within the music industry. “The tour is as much about you as it is me,” he shared in the post.
MOTIONS celebrates the interconnectedness of the dance music community. The tour will feature pop-ups and fan activities, so he can meet the community and hear their ideas.
“I want to rebuild together,” he shared, asking fans to shout out any local artists who deserve a space on the tour. Though dates are not released yet, this announcement marks an exciting beginning of What So Not’s next big adventure.
