Lost Lands to issue payments to fans who have fallen victim to ticket resale platform LYTE

Lost Lands ticket resellers are no match for Excision as the festival has offered payments to those who fell victim to the reselling platform, Lyte.

Lost Lands, the mega-festival hosted by the dubstep capo Excision, aka Jeff Abel, has taken a stand against predatory Lost Lands ticket resellers this week. After festival attendees used the ticketing platform, Lyte to purchase and sell tickets, the platform suddenly shut down last week amid the festival.

Lost Lands announced on their Instagram that they will remain fan-first by issuing payments to those who have yet to be paid back by the ticketing platform. Writing in a three slide post, “Many festivals have used LYTE as a resale platform over the years and are now affected by this extremely frustrating and disappointing situation. Most importantly, some fans are stuck in limbo as their money is being held by the company which has ceased operations.”

The festival continued, “While LYTE has gone silent, we want to do whatever we can to take care of our community. We have created a solution that we hope will help anyone who is awaiting payment from LYTE, regardless of it coming at a very high cost to us.”

In further clarification, Lost Lands elaborated that they will issue repayment for any user who can prove and verify that they did not receive payment from Lyte, the now-defunct platform. With the diversity of ticketing platforms, more platforms are operating with less-than-ideal morals regarding fans’ bank accounts.

Recently, the cost of reselling tickets on other platforms such as Ticketmaster, Live Nation, and Stubhub have crossed the president’s desk, with the US Justice Department actively taking notice. Many artists have made tickets to their shows unable to be transferred to avoid predatory resellers, yet this is the first time an artist and festival have openly taken a stand against the ticketing giants.

The festival writes, “We hope this will be received as a gesture of goodwill from us to our community, who we want to support through this situation.” Lost Lands has been conscious of feedback, sharing a survey after the festival ensuring continuous improvement of the festival for the following year. Excision, Lost Lands, and Legend Valley continue to curate a fan-forward experience.

Hey! I'm Shiv! Music is the greatest part of my life, I remember discovering dubstep when I was 15/16 and my entire life was altered - robot noises?? I needed MORE! Now, I live in NYC and have seen over 60 artists of all genres; my favorites being Odesza, Subtronics, Rezz, Griz, Zeds Dead, John Summit and Kaskade. I am an enjoyer of music and will try everything once, I do not discriminate - there is beauty in all genres (minus country). You can usually find me in a warehouse at 4AM because I am nocturnal and will quite literally never say no to a show.

What's your reaction?
