Chapter & Verse retracts statement after accusation made against The Martinez Brothers

Tech house artist Chapter & Verse told a jarring story on his Instagram profile surrounding an alleged encounter between Chris Martinez of The Martinez Brothers and an unidentified woman, and he just took it back.

DJ and producer Chapter & Verse shared a post to their Twitter on September 17th that read, “On 11 September 2024, I posted an Instagram story about the Martinez Brothers @themartinezbros What I said was untrue and the events did not happen as I described them. I apologise unreservedly for the harm the false allegations I made have caused.”

Fans raised suspicions in the replies that suggested the statement was coerced. One person wrote, “Blink twice if their lawyers have you captive in the basement” while another said, “this is giving cease and desist letter arrived on your doorstep.”

On September 11, Chapter & Verse accused one-half of The Martinez Brothers of “trying to force a lone female to drink shots whilst she was simply stood at the bar waiting to be served.” Allegedly, when the woman refused the drink, the artist approached the venue’s security team and requested that she be removed from the club. The woman allegedly followed up with “management” who backed up the decision because it was “his night,” alluding to Chris Martinez, according to Chapter & Verse.

Chapter & Verse closed his statement adding, “Chris Martinez, you are a disgrace to DJ culture and the privileged position you find yourself in. You do not have the right to use your so-called power to disrespect women and force them to do things against their will. This conduct has to stop.”

Following the allegations, which were made on the artist’s Instagram story, the story went viral across the dance music community. Some artists and fans expressed outrage at the situation, while others have come to the brothers’ defense. The Martinez Brothers did not make a statement and carried on with posting to social media as usual.

One fan commented on a recent post, “Hilarious that yall are deleting comments about what you’re really like 😂” and another replied, “the guy literally admitted that he made up a fake story – you’re a bit late honey! Don’t believe everything u see in the internet :)”
