Adele announces an indefinite break to her music career
Adele has announced that she is taking an indefinite hiatus from her music career, with her last show in Munich.
Adele is taking a massive step back from her majorly successful music career, according to the artist herself. She launched her Las Vegas residency in 2022, and following the third year of it this fall, the singer will go on indefinite hiatus.
The upcoming shows, set for October and November, are the makeup dates from earlier this year, following a major illness. The residency, “Weekends with Adele,” has 10 shows left at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
On August 31, Adele shared this news during her show in Munich, Germany, the last of a 10-show run. These forthcoming Vegas shows will be the last on her schedule.
“After that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time and I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break,” said Adele. “It has been amazing. I just need a rest.”
Adele’s next move comes as an expected, yet entirely brave decision. Artists, like Calvin Harris, for example, make claims of quitting live performances, but can’t follow through for one reason or another.
As for Adele, her fast-paced career eventually impacted her relationship with fans. Due to illness, she postponed her February residency dates, which upset fans since they were spending money and traveling to see her perform.
In July, Adele shared that she had no plans to make new music, instead opting to take a break following the residency. Those rescheduled shows will now happen next month, across 5 weekends from October 25 through November 23.
During this hiatus, Adele plans to enjoy the life she has been building for herself, similar to GRiZ‘s reasoning. The singer recently got engaged and wants to explore other creative hobbies.
Though she won’t be performing live for a while, her prowess will live on through her numerous chart-topping releases. The remaining tickets for Adele’s final shows are available online, but prices have soared since she confirmed the hiatus.
