Burning Man attendee Kendra Frazer’s death under investigation after she was found unresponsive on first day of festival

Burning Man has tragically announced the death of attendee Kendra Frazer after she was found unresponsive at the event.

A tragic incident has cast a somber shadow over the opening day of Burning Man 2024, as Kendra Frazer, a female attendee, was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the festival site in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. The event, known for celebrating art, community, and self-expression, was abruptly shaken when Burning Man officials discovered the attendee at 11:29 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024.

Emergency services at the festival promptly responded to the scene, attempting life-saving measures, but unfortunately, they were unable to revive her. The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the situation at 11:37 a.m., with deputies arriving shortly after that. An investigation into the cause of death is currently underway, with the sheriff’s office awaiting the results of an autopsy to provide further clarity on the tragic circumstances.

In an official statement, the Burning Man organization expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a Burning Man attendee. “It is with heavy hearts that Burning Man Project confirms the death of a participant in Black Rock City. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends affected by this loss.” 

Burning Man’s emergency services, along with the Black Rock Rangers, are providing 24/7 support to festival-goers in need of assistance during this difficult time. The organization has assured that it is fully cooperating with local authorities as the investigation proceeds. The statement, however, refrained from disclosing further details out of respect for the privacy of Frazer’s grieving family.
