GRiZ to bring epic performance at Burning Man amid hiatus

Burning Man’s Camp Questionmark has announced their lineup, which seemingly reveals the return of GRiZ from his major hiatus.

Just over a year ago, GRiZ announced an official and indefinite hiatus from his music career. Since that announcement, the producer has been spotted in the studio with various collaborators.

However, it appears he will now be performing at Burning Man, which runs this year from August 25-September 2. Camp Questionmark’s lineup announcement revealed GRiZ as one of the performers at their camp.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, the non-profit Burning Man camp debuted the lineup for next week’s event. It showed that GRiZ would be playing on Friday at 1am. But is this the GRiZ, or a French DJ whose name is stylized as Griz?

While this news has excited fans eagerly awaiting his official return, the news has also raised eyebrows, and not just about the name distinction. This is because Burning Man is an event predicated on spontaneity, with legitimate schedules seldom shared.

This leads to fans regularly speculating who will be performing on the playa. The mystery is part of Burning Man’s charm, but it does lead to false rumors, like 2022’s supposed “Rufus du Sol” DJ set. Perhaps this is why the post is now absent from the Camp Questionmark Instagram feed. Nonetheless, tagged photos provide screenshots of the announcement.

Though this announcement is major for GRiZ, Burning Man seems to need the publicity. The event, which draws attendees from all over the globe, has less-than-average demand this year, despite selling out previous years. Could this announcement stir the pot, amidst news that this year’s event is trying to garner interest after last year’s difficulties? Or is this really the return that fans were waiting for?

Meanwhile, GRiZ still appears to be emerging from the break that he initiated a year ago. Arguably at the height of his career, the musician, real name Grant Richard Kwiecinski, stepped back from the spotlight to “chill and enjoy life.”

In October, the musician went offline with an Instagram post stating “Time to sign off for a while,” but then reassuring that he will “see you again.” Hopefully, this is the start of GRiZ’s comeback. However, patience is key, as the musician continues to sort out a healthy balance between his music career and personal life.
