Lost Desert takes on Tulum for a dreamy beachside set
Lost Desert recently performed in Tulum for a relaxed, musing house set abreast of Mexico’s jungle.
Belgium house DJ Lost Desert recently performed at the legendary Papaya Playa Project in Tulum, Mexico for a beachside dreamy set. Although Tulum is most heavily frequented during Mexico’s winter season (i.e. November through February), it was a perfect evening. The water was calm, the skies were clear, and the ocean breeze kept the playa cool. Vagabonds danced beneath the stars to whimsical, gentle, and friendly house music, complemented by the distant sounds of waves crashing ashore and cicadas buzzing in the jungle.
Papaya Playa Project, one of the largest beachside venues in Tulum, was the perfect venue for Lost Desert’s unique sound. The venue is an amphitheater – the performer is stationed at the bottom of a semicircular pit, which fosters great visibility and spaciousness, even in packed crowds. Papaya Playa Project is located along Tulum’s main ocean drag and within walking distance of coffee shops, boutiques, and restaurants. During the day, it boasts some of the best views in the area. Turquoise waters stretch as far as the eye can see and the dozens of cabanas sprout up from dunes and lissome grass.
Lost Desert helms his own record label, Souksonic, and most often collaborates with the legendary Lee Burridge, a British DJ who first rose to fame in the 90s. Lost Desert can most often be seen performing for Lee’s collective All Day I Dream, an event series that curates colorful and airy house sets. All Day I Dream is headquartered in Ibiza from May through September, Spain’s peak season.
During August, the collective has scheduled back-to-back events to celebrate the region’s unique Bohemia. Frequent flyer Lost Desert will perform alongside his veteran peers for All Day I Dream’s August 24th performance in Ibiza, which will certainly be a dreamy house set for the books.
