Calvin Harris teases new album in cryptic post

Legendary Scottish artist Calvin Harris has made a post on Instagram that has led many to believe a new album is on the way.

Ever since the release of ‘18 Months’ back in 2012, Calvin Harris has been a household name across the globe. The chart-topping album includes a laundry list of smash hits: “Feel So Close,” “We Found Love” with Rihanna, “I Need Your Love” with Ellie Goulding, “Sweet Nothing” with Florence Welch, “Let’s Go” with Ne-Yo. Fast forward twelve years, and it seems Harris may finally be giving that game-changing project a proper sequel.

On Wednesday, Calvin Harris posted on Instagram a series of pictures including a photo of him in the studio with the overlay ‘CALVIN HARRIS 96 MONTHS.’ The text over the photo is in his signature 2010s style that was used on the album covers for both ‘18 Months’ and his 2014 album ‘Motion.’ Among the other pictures is a vinyl of his 2023 Ellie Goulding collab “Miracle,” perhaps indicating the beloved single will find a home on an album soon enough.

In another layer of intrigue, Harris deleted the post after roughly four hours and then re-posted it several hours later on Thursday morning. The new post is nearly identical but with at least one picture removed and with different emojis in the caption. Fellow artists flocked to both the original post and the new post to express their excitement, including Hardwell, Madeon, and Armin Van Buuren.

If a new album called ‘96 Months’ is indeed on the way, the title could reveal a little bit about it. Calvin Harris’s third studio album, ‘18 Months,’ was named for the length of time it took him to create the album from start to finish, so the forthcoming album could consist of tracks that he made over the past eight years while releasing his ‘Funk Wav Bounces’ music. Bringing back the 2010s album cover style could also mean a return to his classic radio-pop sonic style that catapulted him to fame back in those days.
