Kehlani accused of cult involvement by ex-boyfriend seeking full custody of their child

Kehlani’s ex-boyfriend files for full custody of 5-year-old daughter after claims of cult involvement

Kehlani’s ex-boyfriend Javaughn Young-White has filed for full custody of their 5-year-old daughter Adeya Nomi. In court documents obtained by PEOPLE magazine, it has been revealed that Young-White requested full custody motivated by his belief that Kehlani is affiliated with a cult.

Young-White and Kehlani started dating from 2018 to 2019. During this time, she announced her pregnancy and welcomed the baby with an at-home birth in March 2019. According to Young-White, this wasn’t a choice by Kehlani, as he believes leaders of the cult orchestrated the delivery.

Young-White writes that since “Ayeda was born in a home and not in a conventional setting like a hopsital, [his] name is not on Ayeda’s birth certificate. Young-White reportedly has been requesting to put his name on the certificate for the last five years, and claims that Kehlani has not responded to him. He continues to disclose that the Grammy-nominated R&B singer has also refused to give him their daughter’s social security number and is unsure if she even has one.

He believes that the cult leader Neto, convinced Kehlani that Young-White would put their daughter in danger and has been instructed to block him from seeing their daughter. He claims in the document that Kehlani’s actions ad behavior, “including when it comes to the upbringing of [their] daughter” are controlled by the cult.

Young-White alleges that he has brought up his concerns with Kehlani but she hasn’t listened although expressing that the cult leader has, “numerous accusations of committing sexual assault.” He has also accused Kehlani of leaving their child alone with multiple members from the cult. Young-White is requesting that the court grant him full custody in addition to receiving child support from Kehlani.

Young-White filed the documents requesting his paternity rights in August 2024. Kehlani has since put out a statement on his Instagram story writing, “I strongly deny any claims that I have put my child in harm’s way, or left my child alone with anyone deemed dangerous or unsafe,” Kehlani wrote. “I also do not align with any of the allegations made against my former religious community that have been stated in the media.”

My favorite thing in the whole world is music and after hearing "One" by Swedish House Mafia for the first time in 2014, I was hooked on EDM. Dance music has been a large part of who I am and will always be searching for new ways to incorporate it in my life. The pure bliss that I feel from live shows is a feeling I never want to stop chasing (iykyk). Some of my favorite artists are Flume, Rüfüs Du Sol, Mindchatter, Disclosure, Dom Dolla and Fred Again.. :)
