Cardi B divorces rapper Offset and announces third pregnancy

Cardi B has made headlines with major life changes, announcing her third pregnancy as she files for divorce from her husband Offset.

Cardi B has confirmed her third pregnancy after filing for divorce from her husband Offset. The New York rappers Cardi B and Offset first made waves in 2017 when they married.  Unfortunately, the couple is parting ways after a tumultuous six years of separation and reconciliation.

Cardi B’s spokesperson clarified that the split has no connection to Offset’s recent cheating rumors, but rather has been a long time coming. Cardi B is seeking primary custody of their two children: 2½-year-old son Wave Set and 6-year-old daughter Kulture Kiari. Offset also has three children from previous relationships—sons Jordan, 14, and Kody, 8, and daughter Kalea Marie, 9.

On August 1, Cardi B shared a heartfelt Instagram post celebrating this new chapter in her life. “With every ending comes a new beginning!” she wrote alongside a photo of herself cradling her growing baby bump. Furthermore, she added, “you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”

Cardi B alluded to marital issues earlier this year, discussing her single status in December 2023 on social media. Despite public speculation, the split appears to be amicable. Specifically, Cardi B’s representative stated that the decision is based on “irreconcilable differences.”

Both Cardi B and Offset have enjoyed substantial success in their careers. Cardi B skyrocketed to fame with her debut album Invasion of Privacy, which earned her a Grammy for Best Rap Album. Her features with G-Eazy, Charlie XCX, and Bebe Rexha have cemented her as a driving force in modern hip-hop.

Similarly, Offset has achieved critical acclaim with tracks like “Bad and Boujee” and “Walk It Talk It.” His features include artists such as Travis Scott and J. Cole. Ultimately, Exron eagerly awaits the new baby’s arrival and a smooth transition for the recent ex-couple.

Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 10+ years now. I have always had a knack for writing and the power of words, which I continued cultivating through a Philosophy degree in college. Now a law school graduate, I eventually hope to merge my passions by working in music law. I am an avid traveler and am certainly not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My next bucket list festivals to attend are Tomorrowland in Belgium and Sonus in Croatia. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists include Franky Wah, Mochakk, Kevin de Vries, and Eli Brown.
