What is Chris Comstock’s net worth?

How much does a DJ like Chris Comstock make, and what’s his net worth?

As one of the most lucrative DJs of all time, largely due to his prolific pattern of performances and popular commercial music, there has been much speculation over Chris Comstock‘s net worth. For those who don’t know, Chris Comstock is the man behind the Marshmello DJ project. In November 2017, Forbes stated Marshmello’s net worth to be 21 million dollars. Simple math (i.e. a compounded interest rate of 7%, mirroring the S&P index) would approximate the more recent total to be around 33 million dollars.

In combination with these investment returns and his earned income over the ensuing seven-year period, Marshmello’s estimated net worth now hovers around 50 million dollars, making him one of the most successful DJs of all time. Based on these numbers, Marshmello has made roughly 2.5 million dollars every year since 2017, again showcasing his hegemony in EDM.

In the same piece that Forbes confirmed his net worth, the publication also dived deep into who the masked DJ really is, cracking a decade-long enigma of one of the world’s wealthiest DJs. Thanks to EDM industry mogul Skrillex, who mistakenly namedropped Chris when referencing Marshmello in an interview with Katie Couric, rumors had already begun circulating that Chris Comstock, also a DJ by the name of Dotcom, was the man beneath the mask.

Despite a clever publicity stunt in 2016, where Tiësto coyly posed as Marshmello (unmasking mid-set to the awe and uproar of EDC’s MainStage crowd), the greater EDM community wasn’t convinced. Although speculators had attempted to crack the code for years, Forbes ultimately settled the score by digging into entity organizational structures linked to Chris.

“Additional evidence comes from his holding company, Marshmello Creative, LLC,” postulated Forbes. “Formed in Delaware in August 2015, the only manager listed under the company is Christopher Comstock.”

Comstock is similarly listed as the sole manager of Dotcom Music, LLC, the organization attached to his previous moniker. Rather than create a series of shell companies to mask Marshmello’s identity, the simple (and public) financial structure of ownership betrayed an indelible truth: Marshmello, Dotcom, and Chris Comstock are all one and are all worth millions.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
