New York music venue Schimanski closes doors after 8 years

The Iconic Brooklyn New York Venue Schimanski has announced it will shut their doors come the end of July.

The Williamsburg nightclub, Schimanski announced on their Instagram this week that they will be shuttering their doors at the end of July 2024. The venue has been open for the last 8 years and has hosted many artists, events, and nights out on the town for city dwellers.

The venue, located in the heart of Williamsburg, is surrounded by Brooklyn Bowl, Gabriela, Superior Ingredients, and many more. Williamsburg and Brooklyn are known for their venues ranging from swanky rooftops to mysterious warehouses, and maybe even a refurbished school bus.

Schimanski wrote in an Instagram post, “After 8 amazing years and countless great shows with some of the most popular artists, Schimanski will be taking a break at the end of July. It’s been such a great experience to be a part of the Williamsburg Community.”

“Thank you to our community, guests, artists, and team for making these years so special. We look forward to sharing news about the next chapter in the coming week……Stay Tuned.” Fans and followers of the venue took to commenting to share some memories or hopes for the establishment’s future.

One fan wrote, “I remember when this happened with Verboden 😢 and Schimanski was born. Can’t wait to see what’s next.” Another writing, “Break = Rebranding.” Another fan got right to the point and wrote what many were thinking, “This is verboten.” One reminisced on a Virgil Abloh set in 2017, rest in peace.

As one venue door closes, it is fair to assume another venue’s door will be opening. Not long ago Webster Hall shuttered their doors after being purchased by new management. 3 years passed, it reopened under new management, and the show went on. Hopefully the same will happen with this iconic venue space and concertgoers will be under the disco ball again soon.

Hey! I'm Shiv! Music is the greatest part of my life, I remember discovering dubstep when I was 15/16 and my entire life was altered - robot noises?? I needed MORE! Now, I live in NYC and have seen over 60 artists of all genres; my favorites being Odesza, Subtronics, Rezz, Griz, Zeds Dead, John Summit and Kaskade. I am an enjoyer of music and will try everything once, I do not discriminate - there is beauty in all genres (minus country). You can usually find me in a warehouse at 4AM because I am nocturnal and will quite literally never say no to a show.
