Porter Robinson gives away his designer clothes for free in silent fan exchange

POrter Robinson has given away his old clothing and merch in a silent exchange in Los Angeles last Thursday.

Porter Robinson took to Instagram to announce a clothing give away last Thursday July 18th. Porter Robinson shared on a post that he will be giving away his clothing and merch from years prior at a location in Los Angeles ahead of his album release this week.

Robinson wrote on his Instagram, “I am giving away designer clothes from my closet, to my fans, for free, in person today in LA. l’ll assess your vibe, no words will be exchanged (or you’ll immediately be kicked out) and I’ll give you something from my closet for free based on that. Arrive in your favorite outfit.” Comments were turned off for this post, but based on fan feedback this was an absolute delight.

Fans were then requested to arrive at the location so Porter Robinson could add a piece from his closet to their closet. No words were to be spoken or you would be asked to leave. In true Porter Robinson style, there were theatrics, suspense, and intimacy with each of his fans when he was choosing the item that best spoke to them.

Porter Robinson is coming out with a new album this week titled, ‘SMILE! :D.’ Robinson’s one-on-one time with fans was a creative way for him to connect live outside of a pop-up set that has become most common these days. Sharing items from his closet is a feeling of personalized intimacy to connect with fans on a deeper level, and it is known that Porter Robinson has a unique and outlandish sense of style that separates him from other artists and shows his sense of individualism in the music scene.

Hey! I'm Shiv! Music is the greatest part of my life, I remember discovering dubstep when I was 15/16 and my entire life was altered - robot noises?? I needed MORE! Now, I live in NYC and have seen over 60 artists of all genres; my favorites being Odesza, Subtronics, Rezz, Griz, Zeds Dead, John Summit and Kaskade. I am an enjoyer of music and will try everything once, I do not discriminate - there is beauty in all genres (minus country). You can usually find me in a warehouse at 4AM because I am nocturnal and will quite literally never say no to a show.

What's your reaction?
