GRiZ teases collaboration with rapper Jelly Roll amid ongoing hiatus

GRiZ and Jelly Roll spark collaboration rumors after festival rendezvous.

Rumors about a new collaboration between GRiZ and Jelly Roll have surfaced. After being pictured together, the rapper-turned-country singer and dubstep producer teases a potential collaboration. It has not been confirmed by either of the artists that something is in the works.

The source of the rumor comes from a social media post by Denver-based photographer Jason Siegel. On Instagram, Siegel posted a video of GRiZ and Jelly Roll together with the caption, “What would you name this collab?”

Fans quickly went to Twitter and Instagram to comment on the potential collab. It was quickly debunked that the image was taken last year at Bonnaroo. But, it was the first time the image had been posted by the photographer. Most comments include, “Is this real life!?” and “The GRIZ comeback is on the rise and it’s gonna blow us away.”

It has been less than a year since GRiZ announced he would be going on hiatus for the foreseeable future. Since then, he has been spotted freestyling and working in the studio with his good friend DJ PROBCAUSE. Though he has been in the studio, GRiZ has not played any shows or released official music since summer 2023.

Jelly Roll has been having a meteoric rise in the music scene this year. He even has a new collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly coming out on July 26th. In a social media post, Jelly Roll referred to the upcoming collab as “KellyRoll activated.”

Although Jelly Roll is active in music right now, GRiZ still seems to be honoring his indefinite hiatus. There has not been confirmation as to when exactly GRiZ will be returning to the music scene, but it is evident that his fans will be ready for that day to come.

My favorite thing in the whole world is music and after hearing "One" by Swedish House Mafia for the first time in 2014, I was hooked on EDM. Dance music has been a large part of who I am and will always be searching for new ways to incorporate it in my life. The pure bliss that I feel from live shows is a feeling I never want to stop chasing (iykyk). Some of my favorite artists are Flume, Rüfüs Du Sol, Mindchatter, Disclosure, Dom Dolla and Fred Again.. :)
