Resident Advisor launches new partnership with SoundCloud to promote artist and fan connections
The veil between the underground music scene and mainstream is coming up with Resident Advisor’s partnership with SoundCloud.
Music and events platform, Resident Advisor, has grown to become a significant resource for the electronic music community. This includes event listings, ticket sales, news, reviews, and podcasts.
Over the years, SoundCloud has been a popular source for up-and-coming or reputable artists to share their music for free. To elaborate, many artists today experience their breakthroughs through the successful audio platform. Prime examples include Norwegian DJ and producer, Kygo, who posted a remix of Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire” on Soundcloud in December 2013.
The respected collaboration intends to expand the interaction of artists and fans, online and on the dancefloor. Specifically, RA explains on social media how this alliance will improve how RA and SoundCloud users discover new music and events.
Specifically, Artists can input their Resident Advisor and Soundcloud artist profiles with an embeddable widget. Thus, making it more accessible for fans to discover shows and new music from both the underground and mainstream.
Meanwhile, Resident Advisor’s chief operating officer, Simon Kemper, and Senior Vice President Devi Mahadevia comment on their excitement about the partnership. Furthermore, the two Chairmans include how this empowering partnership will benefit promoters, club owners, artists, DJs, labels, and fans through “increased visibility and engagement”.
As a result, more is yet to come between the two music platforms. Electronic music fans are questioning in the comments below the announcement if other music platforms such as Spotify or Apple Music will pick up the pace with the new times by making efforts to increase artist and fan connections on their platforms.
