Diplo threatened with six-figure fine by Spanish police for throwing illegal beach rave in Ibiza

Diplo has reportedly been under investigation for hosting illegal party in ibiza.

It has been reported that Diplo will face charges for organizing island party in Ibiza. This “illegal” island rave could reportedly cost the DJ and producer up to €300,000.

Through videos that were shared on social media by patrons attending the event, the Spanish police have launched an investigation, according to IB3. The party was said to have initially been promoted through Diplo’s social media channels.

The party was located at Cala D’Hort, a nature reserve protected in Sant Josep de sa Talaia. Images from Diplo’s performance on the island of Es Vedrá have led to an investigation by the City Council and Policia Local de Sant Josep.

The Ibiza Leisure Association has released an official statement condemning the rave explaining how it is a, “very sensitive area of the island.” Because the location falls under a network of protected areas by the European Environment Agency, an investigation has been required.

In a press article released by the Sant Josep City Council, the violation is explained in further detail. “The space where this event was held is a Protected Area by the European Union through the Natura 2000 Network, in addition to a Natural Area of Special Interest, among other figures of environmental protection.” It includes how the location is a “vulnerable area in which this type of illegal activities promote the risk of fires, noise problems, waste, etc and, of course, endanger the integrity of the people attending.”

The Council is now investigating “possible crimes that may have been incurred in order to act accordingly.” The party was said to have initially been promoted through Diplo’s social media channels. It is unclear if Diplo had received authorization to host the party and there has been no active fine charged at the time this article was published.

My favorite thing in the whole world is music and after hearing "One" by Swedish House Mafia for the first time in 2014, I was hooked on EDM. Dance music has been a large part of who I am and will always be searching for new ways to incorporate it in my life. The pure bliss that I feel from live shows is a feeling I never want to stop chasing (iykyk). Some of my favorite artists are Flume, Rüfüs Du Sol, Mindchatter, Disclosure, Dom Dolla and Fred Again.. :)
