Evan revealed that he and the band faced harassment and threats online, which contributed to his mental strain. He mentioned, “Multiple days of people calling us Nazis, and ‘Jew haters’. I, like many people, cope with stress and trauma by joking about it.” He emphasized that his comments did not reflect his true feelings but admitted they were harmful and insensitive.

The statement also highlighted personal challenges Evan faced during his relationship, including the loss of his father. He described feeling vulnerable and manipulated by his ex-girlfriend, adding context to his state of mind. “I became codependent which resulted in being extremely vulnerable and relying on her,” he explained.
