Palm Tree Festival faces backlash from attendees after transportation and hospitality issues
Palm Tree Festival has returned to the luxurious Hamptons for its fourth rendition this past weekend.
Founded by esteemed producer and DJ Kygo and his music manager Myles Shear, the one-day festival has returned to the Hamptons this past Saturday. This year’s stacked lineup featured Kygo himself, Swedish House Mafia, SOFI TUKKER, Purple Disco Machine, and more.
Following the event, multiple attendees have shared their experiences on social media about the festival’s overall customer service and logistics-related run-ins. Moreover, attendees have expressed that bartenders, event staff, transportation services, and the police created difficult experiences for them.
Weeks before the event, festival organizers received word that the Federal Aviation Administration did not renew its permit. This caused Palm Tree Festival to book its new venue in Shinnecock Nation in Southhampton.
With such short notice of these locale changes, the Palm Tree Festival crew continued its best efforts to provide an environment aligned with the festival’s mission to provide happiness, connection, and life-changing experiences for its attendees. However, certain logistics such as limited on-site parking and gridlock concerns became a possible issue they were anticipating.
Following this decision, the festival team was forced to hire dozens of shuttle buses to transport festivalgoers to and from Shinnecock Nation. Thankfully, the Long Island Rail Road also gave festival organizers and attendees access to trains and complimentary shuttle services to the festival site. But certain issues still arose.
According to guests, the largest challenge for festivalgoers who were ride-sharing to the event was finding the exact location to put into Uber drop, making pick-up and drop-off difficult. This resulted in many guests missing performances they were looking forward to. Videos posted by festivalgoers show everyone leaving the venue in yellow school buses.
Following the festival, no further comments have been made by the festival organizers. They left things on a positive note via their recent Instagram post with a picture of the singular stage setting off fireworks with the caption “Lit up the sky in the Hamptons!”.
Cofounder and headliner Kygo has also posted a memorable picture with members of Swedish House Mafia, welcoming them to the Palm Tree Festival family. Further information surrounding the event can be found on Palm Tree Festival’s official website.
