John Summit opens up about dating history in new podcast appearance

On the Therapuss podcast with Jake Shane, John Summit has revealed some juicy information about his dating past and many other topics.

As he continues his reign as the hottest name in American house music, John Summit keeps giving fans what they want with more and more fun content. This week, Summit has made an appearance on the Therapuss podcast with Jake Shane, an internet star who skyrocketed to fame in early 2023 with several viral TikToks. Shane was certainly able to get some intriguing information out of Summit, including some juicy details about his dating life.

Between shots of tequila – with which Summit is much more familiar than Shane – the two weaved through a variety of topics that brought uproarious laughter throughout. Among the most notable headlines made by John Summit in the podcast was revealing that he has not dated anyone in about five full years. Later, he does note that he introduced a girl he was seeing to his parents about three years ago, so it seems there has been at least one significant fling in the interim.

Perhaps the most shocking dating-related tidbit from the podcast was Summit’s admission that he has never given a girl flowers – like, ever. Shane was understandably baffled at this nugget of information, while Summit was equally baffled that gifting flowers is something that would be expected of him in a relationship. As Summit and Shane both admit at the end of the podcast, they clearly have a lot to learn.

As the tequila flowed, several other interesting revelations came from John Summit. He confirmed that he didn’t start drinking alcohol until college, a fact that may come as a surprise to many who see partying as a large part of his brand and personality. He also identified some artists that played important roles in his development as a DJ: deadmau5, whose 2011 Lollapalooza set inspired him to learn to DJ, and Jamie xx, whose 2015 album ‘In Color’ was very inspirational for him.

Things got serious for a brief yet poignant period of the podcast when John Summit discussed his ongoing struggles with anxiety stemming from his lifestyle as a touring DJ, as well as his struggles to fully accept the success that he’s had so far in his career. He also talks about the low moment after a perceived poor show during a stressful tour that resulted in his much-publicized tweet announcing that he is retiring, a short-lived claim that nonetheless generated lots of attention.

In the midst of a lot of hilarity, this was an honest and touching moment between Summit and Shane. Check out the full podcast below!
