Electric Forest first-timer Lexx Lewis dies at festival – here’s how to donate to the family

Electric Forest attendee Lexx Lewis has been pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

Unfortunately, this year’s Electric Forest family lost a dearly beloved member. First-time EF attendee Lexx Lewis has passed away on Saturday after being taken to the hospital following an unexpected medical emergency on-site at the festival grounds around midnight.

Although Michigan State Police has declared that “no major incidents were reported” in connection with Electric Forest throughout the weekend according to Oceana County Press, Lewis’ close friends and family have stated otherwise. Following his tragic passing, his loved ones have identified him as Alexander Lewis, who went by the nickname Lexx Lewis. They claim that he had spontaneously traveled from Cherry Hill, New Jersey to Rothbury, Michigan where Electric Forest is located to surprise his friends at the last minute.

Following the tragic news, Lewis’ older brother, Ramses Maldonado, has launched an official GoFundMe campaign to assist his family with covering the costs of transporting his body back to where his family resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The target goal for the campaign was set to $10,000 and has now amassed over $12,200 from over 470 donations. You can help support Maldonado and his family by donating to this heartbreaking cause here.

In the GoFundMe page, Maldonado expresses, “After the pain and loss of our mother, it breaks my heart even more to now have to lay to rest my younger brother, Lex. He was a man of many talents who touched the hearts and souls of many individuals. Unfortunately, his life has tragically come to an end after an unexpected event that occurred while on vacation in Michigan.” According to Maldonado, the family also had to bear with the tragic loss of their mother not too long ago.

With Electric Forest being recognized for its sense of community and genuine-hearted attendees, Lewis’ dear friend, Seth Wade, turned to a public Electric Forest 2024 Facebook group with roughly 31.2K members to share the devastating news. He also shared the link to Maldonado’s GoFundMe campaign within his post for additional support. Seconds after the post went live, fellow Electric Forest goers rushed to the comments to express their deepest condolences to Wade and anyone who was a part of Lewis’ life and cared for him deeply before his passing.

In his post, Wade writes, “A good friend of mine lost his life this past weekend in the forest. We are trying to get his body back home to Philadelphia to be laid to rest next to his mother.” He adds, “Lexx Lewis only dream was to see the forest and was having the time of his life until it ended to soon.” Our hearts are with Lewis’ family and friends in this time of sorrow.
