A Look Into Tiësto’s Greatest Hits

A curated list of Tiësto’s greatest.

At the ripe age of 55, Tiësto is living the absolute life. He’s married to the beautiful Annika Backes, a model he met in New York City in 2015. They have two adorable children together, a daughter and a son. He’s played some of the biggest venues in the world, and is one of the most respected DJs in the industry, and his music ages like fine wine – it gets better and better with each passing year. Although Tiësto’s dropped many a laudable hit, this is Exron’s list of his top greatest hits of all time.

‘God Is A Dancer’ represents one of Tiësto’s more recent and less-widely-known hits, but the lyrics are too intriguing to overlook. “God is a dancer, yeah, I heard on the radio that she always goes harder ‘cause she keepin’ you on your toes. And she’s perfectly focused, she’s lost in the moment…” Strange, feminine, provocative – she’s a ten.

‘Don’t Be Shy’ is one of Tiësto’s newer tracks, but it’s insatiably catchy and a frequent drop at clubs, raves, and on the radio. With hundreds of millions of streams on Spotify, the song’s success and influence speaks for itself.

‘Hot In It’ is every girl’s hot girl summer anthem. It’s undeniably catchy and versatile. It’s perfect for the rave, a night out, a joy ride, or a hot girl walk. “Tonight, I’m gon’ be rockin’ it, droppin’ it. Shake my ass, no stoppin’ it. I look hot in it, hot in it…”

With just shy of one billion streams on Spotify, ‘Jackie Chan’ is a powerhouse. During the summer of 2016, this song was everywhere. In coffee shops, college bars, elevators, public transit, everywhere.

‘The Motto’ is another track that every Gen Z would know. The production is impeccable, with amazing synths and crisp drums. It’s got that effortless poppy, Tiësto signature sound. It’s newer but also quickly becoming a classic for rave culture.

This track keeps it simple: “Bring that ass back like a boom boom boom boom…” Tiësto’s ‘BOOM’ primarily uses percussion to capture audiences. The production quality is clean and top-notch, and it’s just too catchy not to make the list.

A throwback to the mid-2000s, ‘Wasted’ is the perfect party anthem. With close to half a billion streams on Spotify despite its age, it’s safe to say that this one is unquestionably a Tiësto classic. The lyrics, although a tad cringeworthy, are begrudgingly too real.

‘Secrets’ is a Tiësto classic. Made popular in the mid-2000s by the hit TV series Gossip Girl, it’s devious, fun, and flirty. “Oh, won’t you stay for a while? I’ll take you on a ride if you can keep a secret…Oh, won’t you stay for a while? Show me darkness baby, show me deepness…”

‘The Business’ is also one of Tiësto’s newer tracks, but it already feels like a classic. No matter what club or rave, everyone at the function is guaranteed to know the words. “Let’s get down, let’s get down to business… Give you one more night, one more night to get this. We’ve had a million, million nights just like this. So let’s get down, let’s get down to business…”

And the reigning champion? Tiësto’s rave classic ‘Adagio For Strings,’ a soul-rattling blend of classical music and rave. This is an old Tiësto classic from the early 2000s but it never gets old. It’s a poignant rendition of a timeless string piece composed by Samuel Barber circa 1936, reimagined for Ibiza’s vibrant nightclubs.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
