The Chainsmokers release music video for ‘No Shade at Pitti’ shot in New York City

The Chainsmokers’ “No Shade at Pitti” casts light on the feeling of spring in NYC.

Bar Pitti, AKA the best Italian restaurant to go to in NYC if you want to see a celebrity, has received the royalty status of having a namedrop not only in the song but in said song’s title. The nostalgia-inducing, upbeat tune was released on May 10 as Track 1 on The Chainsmokers ‘No Hard Feelings’ EP and has since garnered over 4 million streams on Spotify.

It smells like The Chainsmokers have released the song and music video of the summer as the internet is raving about “No Shade at Pitti”. The song features Emily Warren and paints a beautiful picture of springtime in NYC to contrast the overall theme of letting go of a painful past relationship.

The song’s lyrics aren’t the only thing painting a beautiful picture here as the music video is just as gorgeous. The music video dropped on May 15 is a colorful, eye-catching tribute to not only the wonderful Bar Pitti but also NYC. Directed by Jeremiah Davis, the music video takes you on a journey throughout NYC with Andrew Taggart as your guide.

The duo was formed in 2012 in NYC, and “No Shade at Pitti” feels like a thank-you to the city for bringing The Chainsmokers to life. Shockingly, the song was almost not given the number 1 slot on the EP. According to a post on the duo’s Instagram, it was the last one they wrote for the EP but after hearing everything together, it was decided that “No Shade at Pitti” was in fact a perfect opener.

“No Shade at Pitti” seems to be marking a new era for the two as it pays homage to their early style while still embodying this new, fresh, and sophisticated aesthetic they have adopted as of late. The entire ‘No Hard Feelings’ EP is a perfect addition to any ‘summer vibes’ playlist.

Two days after their beautiful music video dropped, Alex and Andrew also announced new dates for The Party Never Ends summer series. The series is expanding to visit LA, New York, Boston, and Seattle in August and September of 2024 and will feature uniquely curated visuals as well as special guests such as Jonas Blue, ALOK, Quinn XCII, BUNT, Daniel Allan, and more.
