John Summit slams comparisons of his party lifestyle to late DJ Avicii
John Summit has stood up for his and Avicii’s legacy as someone sent a doubtful message.
John Summit made a video to address someone comparing his extravagant DJ lifestyle to the lifestyle of Avicii who died by suicide. John Summit referred to the comment as extremely disrespectful.
The response came after John Summit posted on Instagram last weekend joking that he was going to have ‘Walmart Summit’ fill in for his set at Fontainebleau’s nightclub LIV in Las Vegas that night because he was tired. A user replied to his story and said: “Bros gonna crash out like Avicii just wait.” John Summit immediately was in disapproval and responded with a video of himself talking and said he makes sure to avoid this in vain of Avicii.
John Summit said: Can people please stop making this comparison? It’s really extremely disrespectful. Avicii was an incredible artist and is incredibly inspiring to me. And if there is any way to honor his legacy it’s by not making those same mistakes.”
He continued: It’s just really really getting on my nerves. It’s not the easiest life that I live but I really f**king love it. I really love entertaining people and making music because it’s my life so.” John Summit is known for partying a lot during his many shows and events.
John Summit made it clear that joking about Avicii and also putting that same label on him is extremely wrong. He reposted the video on TikTok since he originally posted the reply as an Instagram video. People in the comments were on his side and said “RIP Avicii, don’t let these trolls bully you. Keep doing what you’re doing bro” and “AVICII was the greatest of all time. We love you, John. Keep killing it. He’d be proud.”
Avicii died on April 20, 2018. He struggled with mental health issues, including anxiety and depression, and had previously spoken openly about the pressures of fame and the toll it took on him. He also had some health issues including acute pancreatitis, partly due to excessive drinking.
