North Carolina music venue Salvage Station forced to vacate property for construction of new highway
Asheville’s Salvage Station live music venue has been acquired and will be transformed into a roadway next year.
Salvage Station in North Carolina has announced that the property where the live music venue is located has been acquired. The location will be turned into a new highway by the end of the year.
There has been an official timeline set for the property to terminate as a music venue. The organizers have until the end of this year to finish their 2024 season. They must evacuate the property so that the I-26 Connecter project can commence.
Before the property became a functioning music venue, the 7-acre Asheville location was a dumping ground and salvage yard, hence the name of the venue today. The founder and owner of the venue, Danny McClinton, had a vision to clean up and transform the space in 2016.
Over the last few years, the Salvage Station has been a crucial part of Asheville’s growing music scene, and most importantly has been a space for the community to gather together.
The organizers came out with an official statement declaring, “We are heartbroken to pack and relocate what we have built, but our Salvage Station family is strong and we are committed to rebuilding. Where we go is unknown, but for sure, if a salvage yard can become a nationally recognized music venue, we will certainly figure out this next chapter.”
As mentioned, the organizers are planning to relocate the music venue, though the location is unknown still. Reassuring to fans that if they were able to transform a salvage yard to a well-respected venue, they are positive that the new chapter for Salvage Station will be a success.
