Inside Hot Since 82’s life-threatening attack while on tour in Brazil

Hot Since 82 has canceled his shows following an attempted car-jacking, “no DJ show or fee is worth it.”

Hot Since 82 – real name Daley Padley – took to his Instagram to share why he canceled his forthcoming shows. The shows were booked to be at Warung Festival and Time Warp Festival. He opened up about the terrifying experience that took place earlier this month on May 3. Padley started by saying he was “feeling very broken” and “feeling very lucky to be alive.”

In the video post, Padley explained that men armed with AK-47s were pursuing his tour vehicle. The pursuit happened after his show in the Brazilian seaside city at around 5 am.

While on a “busy motorway” at night, armed men drove in front of them and “braked for us to stop.” Several men, sporting balaclavas, reached out the window with guns. The DJ shared that he believed they were set up due to the armed men knowing “exactly where we were, what car, and where we were going to be at what time.”

He explained that after they spotted the gunmen, his driver began reversing through traffic. They were dangerously weaving in and out of the cars for “miles and miles” at high speed. “If the AK-47s didn’t get us, we are really lucky we didn’t have a really bad car crash because we’re weaving in and out of oncoming traffic going 60 – 70 mph with a car full of AK-47s following us,” he said, adding: “If it wasn’t for the heroic manoeuvres of our driver I don’t know if we would be alive right now.”

Though he had a “wicked time” in Brazil, Padley explained that he doesn’t know if he will be returning to the country again. He continued: “Going to a club to DJ should be about happiness and bringing joy to people’s lives, not leaving a club and wondering if I’m going to get home safe.” The post finished with Daley mentioning his pregnant wife, “My wife is bout to deliver our next baby in six weeks’ time, I can’t risk being in a position like this.”

While Hot Since 82 is safe and back on the road. These instances are reminders that anything is possible and safety always comes first. We wish all touring artists on the roads to stay safe throughout their summer travels and adventures.

My name is Sebastian Medina and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Ever since I could remember, I have always been in love with dance music. I appreciate all genres and sub-genres but I definitely gravitate towards house and techno. Being from LA I was blessed with an amazing nightlife full of different artists coming in and out of town throughout the years. Some of my favorite artists include Seth Troxler, Michael Bibi, Mr.Carmack, PAWSA, and Folamour.
