Who is ‘Walmart Summit’?

The internet has gone wild over a text encounter between John Summit and a fan now labeled as ‘Walmart Summit’.

John Summit has always kept it real on social media, whether about his DJ career or other hot takes. Recently, one particular fan has found himself at the center of some unwanted attention in a subtle flex gone sideways.  While respecting his privacy, Exron is here to give you an objective overview of how Walmart Summit got his name.

It all started when a fan sent John Summit a selfie from Vegas shouting out the “Where You Are” mastermind.  In his text, he thanks the Experts Only boss for getting him laid “because [he] looked like a Walmart version of [Summit]”.  Summit has always made an effort to engage with fans on social media, and thus responded lightheartedly congratulating him in an Instagram story.

Shortly thereafter, John Summit posted a slew of subsequent texts from the man pleading with him to remove the story from socials because he allegedly had a girlfriend.  In an attempt to soften the blow, Summit posted a Tweet to extend an olive branch.  Specifically, he lightheartedly offered the man “list to any upcoming shows and… [to] put in a good word” for future prospects. Naturally, Twitter followers chimed in with comments expressing a range of reactions to the situation.

Particularly, one user noted that John Summit should not be praising such behavior publicly through this gesture.  John Summit proceeded to explain the context behind this move on Twitter, noting that he doesn’t “condone cheating ever, [and is] personally scarred from it”.  Reinforcing his message, he noted that he has never cheated and would rather remain single than do so.

Ultimately, it is both unclear whether Walmart Summit was single and merely did it for “the bit”.  Nonetheless, this serves as a cautionary tale to those thinking about oversharing in the age of viral social media.  To stay clued in on the real John Summit, head over to his Instagram.

Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 10+ years now. I have always had a knack for writing and the power of words, which I continued cultivating through a Philosophy degree in college. Now a law school graduate, I eventually hope to merge my passions by working in music law. I am an avid traveler and am certainly not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My next bucket list festivals to attend are Tomorrowland in Belgium and Sonus in Croatia. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists include Franky Wah, Mochakk, Kevin de Vries, and Eli Brown.
