deadmau5 Uses Butterfly Net to Catch Drone on Stage at EDC Las Vegas

During his set at EDC Las Vegas, deadmau5 had shown off his multitasking skills by catching a drone while performing for thousands of people.

Several fans in the crowd had captured the DJ swiping at the drone throughout his set. In one clip, a masked deadmau5 had been shown standing on the decks to reach the device and in another, he is simultaneously mixing and on the lookout. After finally catching the drone, he had celebrated, held it up for everyone to see, and released it.

The drone owner, Chris Teal, had come out shortly after the set and posted the footage he got. Teal had captured a masked deadmau5 playing on stage before spotting the drone and engulfing it in the butterfly net.

The DJ caught even more drones during his set and shared a few videos on his pages. In one, he can be seen without his helmet and ushers the drone towards him before swiping it into the net. The crowd cheers for the artist as he holds the net up to display his achievement.

deadmau5 is no stranger to on-stage antics. On top of whipping out butterfly nets, he used a soundbite of Grimes’ Coachella performance as a hook in his EDC set. He has a long history of amusing himself while performing and there is little doubt that the fun will stop anytime soon.

The artist has been a dance music icon for over two decades. In fact, he celebrated his 25th anniversary in the industry during EDC week. For the occasion, AREA15 in Vegas curated an immersive audiovisual experience for deadmau5 that will run until July 11.

While no official videos of deadmau5 at EDC Las Vegas have been shared, clips are floating around. His carefree attitude adds another touch to EDC’s fun – even at 2 AM on day three.
