A look inside Marshmello’s longstanding partnership with Fortnite

Marshmello has relished in a collaboration with Fortnite.

Marshmello’s long-standing partnership with Fortnite has successfully blended electronic dance music and video games. The disguised DJ invigorated many Fortnite players when he announced a live concert in the digital world in partnership with Fortnite. In 2019, players and music lovers gathered in Pleasant Park, a town in Fortnite’s world. 

Marshmello had been creatively excessive in his production and performance for the extended set. The stage was set with pyrotechnics, holographics, and lights as glowing meteorites descended in the backdrop. The event set an in-game record, as more than 10 million people logged on to experience the digital concert.

Marshmello’s Fortnite Extended Set has since only been released to the Apple Music streaming service. This vibrant performance, however, had only marked the beginning of Marshmello’s involvement with Fortnite. In tandem with the record-breaking performance, Fortnite released a bundle of Marshmello-related items such as skins, hammers, and gliders.

For the non-gamers, these are tools and costumes players can equip to their player – essentially, allowing people to play as Marshmello. The release of new bundles has always excited Fortnite players, but Marshmello in particular has created quite the buzz after his online show. Fortnite has even offered a slick gold-plated Marshmello mask in their promotion of the artist.

The hype has still not died down years later, according to Fortnite fanatics. The skin, which had a limited-time release in 2019, finally returned in early 2023. Creating yet another stir, Fortnite players flocked to the store once more to acquire the rare skin. Undoubtedly, Marshmello has positively infused both his music and presence into the popular game.

Marshmello has fanned his influence in Fortnite because of his great career success outside the famed video game. He has endowed fans with his music at festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Tomorrowland. Accruing a massive following, he has earned his right to step into the video game world.
