Avicii’s ex-girlfriend Emily Goldberg dead at age 34

Emily Goldberg, ex-girlfriend of the late Avicii, has passed away from a pulmonary embolism in her hometown of La Jolla, California.

An online obituary has announced that Emily Goldberg is dead at the age of 34. The obituary states that Emily, the ex-girlfriend of the late international superstar DJ Avicii (Tim Bergling), passed away on April 3rd, 2024 in her hometown of La Jolla, California from a pulmonary embolism, a sudden artery blockage in the lungs that inhibits breathing. Emily leaves behind her parents, Julie and Sam Goldberg, and her brother, Aaron Goldberg.

Her obituary details the beautiful life Emily led after she was born in Poway, California in 1989. It notes that Emily had a passion for all kinds of art and attended George Washington University in Washington DC where she received a degree in Art History in 2012. She went on to “travel the world with an EDM music tour” before working in event planning and social media marketing at the Wynn Encore hotel in Las Vegas, where Avicii held a residency for part of his career.

It is not publicly known how Emily and Tim met or when they started dating. When Tim passed away in 2018, she posted a touching tribute on her Instagram page in which she revealed they were together for two years and called him her “closest confidante” and “best friend.” She continued posting pictures with him occasionally after his death, usually on his birthday or the anniversary of his death.

In her last Instagram post on May 24th, 2023, she revealed that she had had cancer for the past year but was now cancer free. She did not specify what type of cancer she had, and it is unclear whether this was related to her death just under one year later.

Emily’s obituary states that a private memorial service is being held for her.
