deadmau5 Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Project with Sold-Out Show at Hollywood Bowl

In a dazzling three-hour display, Deadmau5 celebrates his 20-year career by treating a packed Hollywood Bowl to a mesmerizing journey through the project’s lifespan.

Deadmau5 announced his ongoing ‘retro5pective’ tour back in February following much anticipation for the return of his legendary cube production. Fans weren’t sure what to expect for this special 20th-anniversary celebration given all of his work on Mau5trapRezzmau5, Kx5, and more. The evening kicked off with a nostalgic nod to deadmau5‘s early days as part of the duo BSOD, alongside producer Steve Duda, DJ Aero, and rockstar Tommy Lee, forming the quartet known as WTF?.

The crowd was then treated to a sonic journey through deadmau5’s iconic tracks like “Faxing Berlin” and “Sometimes Things Get, Whatever,” which have solidified his place in the electronic music pantheon. A highlight of the night came as a surprise interlude featuring MEUTE, who delivered a brass rendition of the classic mau5 anthem “Slip.”

The excitement has reached new heights as deadmau5 has unveiled his massive touring production, Cube V3, which hasn’t been seen since 2020. Perched high atop the cube, deadmau5 has paid homage to his viral moment at the 2008 HARD Haunted Mansion by donning the Pinhead costume for “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff,” one of the many mau5head looks revealed throughout the show.

The star-studded event has continued with electrifying guest appearances, including performances by SOFI, Kiesza, LIGHTS, and HAYLA, each adding their own flair to the proceedings and leaving the audience spellbound with their talent.

As the night drew to a close, deadmau5 surprised fans with a preview of his upcoming collaboration with Los Angeles hip-hop collective Coast Contra, performing “The Truth” farthing the anticipation for its official release. Deadmau5’s ‘retro5pective’ has served as a reminder of the magic that happens when music and technology converge and further cemented his status as an icon and legend of dance music.

Following this iconic night, fans continued to celebrate deadmau5 at the renowned Brooklyn Mirage in New York City for additional shows that occurred on Thursday, May 2, and Friday, May 3. It’s been a long ride for deadmau5, but there’s still plenty more to come from the Canadian-born dance music legend.
