Martin Garrix Addresses Zitao’s Backlash for Stage Appearance Failure
Martin Garrix has confronted Chinese singer Ziato for dissing him about not going on stage together during his set at a festival in China.
Martin Garrix made a video to clarify what happened in a scenario where he and Chinese singer Huang Zitao were attempting to go on stage together at the first F1 China Grand Prix music festival on April 20. This did not go as planned and Zitao called Martin Garrix out on stage during his set and made some aggressive comments which stirred up anger in his fans.
Zitao stood on stage and said, “To be honest I don’t give a f**k. Because I don’t even know who he is. I don’t f**king care mother f**ker” His fans can be heard booing to the comments and some started to say negative remarks about Martin Garrix.
Martin Garrix posted a video to explain his side of what went down between him and Ziato. He explained that he was very confused about where Ziato was coming from because they were never originally supposed to go on stage together, but he still tried to make it happen and Ziato never showed up. And that Ziato even left him hanging when they eventually planned to go on stage together.
In the video, Martin Garrix said, “I want to make a little video because there’s a lot of misinformation. A lot of lies. A lot of bullying happening on the internet. And I want to clarify I love China, I love being there. I love the people. It’s been very clear and very well communicated that I was never gonna be on stage together with Zitao from the beginning. When today I found out he was very disappointed and that he heard differently. I tried everything to make it still work, to make it happen. We invited him on stage, during my set to do a photo together. We were supposed to meet him even before the stage before the set with Max. He didn’t show up there.”
He continued and said, “Then during a set, I said ‘Okay we can do it as an outro together.’ I started the ‘Forever Song’ where he was supposed to walk on and we’ll have our moment together. He was not there, he was hiding in the toilets and his dressing room area to the point that he was music playing you could hear his voice on the speaker, but he was not there. Um, it’s just awkward to hear that afterward, he starts talking very negative things about me. Trust me. I tried everything to do this moment together. Thank you guys and during the show, I tried everything to be on stage together which unfortunately didn’t happen. Because he was nowhere to be seen. I’m very sorry that it all happened down like this.”
Many people said Ziato’s fans are very dedicated to him and that is why Martin Garrix got such a bad response. Zitao is also known as Tao and is a Chinese vocalist. He rose to fame as a past member of the South Korean-Chinese group Exo and its Chinese sub-unit, Exo-M. Following his departure from Exo, he ventured on a solo career in China, making his debut in 2015.
