Sol Blume Postpones May Edition for the Second Year in a Row

Due to safety concerns, the Sacramento-based Sol Blume Festival has postponed its 2024 edition for a second year.

Sacramento’s beloved R&B-focused festival Sol Blume has announced the cancellation of its 2024 rendition, originally slated for May 3-5. The decision comes following concerns regarding site safety, marking the second consecutive year organizers have postponed the festival. In a heartfelt message, Sol Blume expressed regret over the decision, citing challenges posed by adverse weather conditions.

Now a Sacramento music staple, Sol Blume had to reconsider its plans due to lingering damage caused by Mother Nature. Despite efforts to mitigate the weather-related impact, the site remains compromised, making it unsafe to proceed with the event. While the flooding in the park has subsided, the physical aftermath still presents significant obstacles to hosting a successful festival.

In light of these circumstances, Sol Blume has rescheduled its next edition to take place at Discovery Park on August 15-17, 2025. This decision marks a strategic shift for the festival, as it permanently transitions to late summer dates to minimize the risk of weather-related conflicts. This is certainly not the first time a festival has endured cancellations this year due to weather, with Texas Eclipse and day one of Ultra Miami facing similar decisions.

Sol Blume’s 2024 lineup boasted an impressive array of R&B talent, including Snoh Aalegra, Kaytraminé, SZA, Kelela, and more.  Clearly, the cancellation leaves fans in suspense as to whether these artists will return for the rescheduled 2025 event. Despite the disappointment of postponement, Sol Blume remains committed to its loyal fan base, especially to their safety and enjoyment.

Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 10+ years now. I have always had a knack for writing and the power of words, which I continued cultivating through a Philosophy degree in college. Now a law school graduate, I eventually hope to merge my passions by working in music law. I am an avid traveler and am certainly not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My next bucket list festivals to attend are Tomorrowland in Belgium and Sonus in Croatia. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists include Franky Wah, Mochakk, Kevin de Vries, and Eli Brown.
