The Coachella Mailroom: From Tents to Mainstages
Coachella has seen the growth of artists, moving from tents to mainstages.
Coachella has been credited as a festival that strengthens and brightens the careers of many artists. These fertile grounds have also seen artists graduate from smaller tents to mainstage acts. Most notably, in the EDM scene, Cloonee, Peggy Gou, and Michael Bibi have experienced such growth.
Cloonee, who released a compelling EP in 2017 titled ‘Estes,’ had made himself noticed and praised as an artist in house music. His upward foray eventually landed him at the Do LaB last year in 2023. Videos online after his show have proven to be credit enough for why he has made it to the Sahara Tent in 2024.
In good form, Cloone has continued to release infectious music, like his 2024 track release “Sippin’ Yak.” Peggy Gou has also experienced an upward trend in the Coachella scene (though her musical supremacy had already been cemented). In 2022, the South Korean star had put on a monstrously alluring show at Yuma.
As videos and experiences inundated online discourse, Peggy Gou had made clear she was one of the top performers at Coachella that year. . Graciously, Coachella has moved her to a bigger stage to better share her distinct style of music. Michael Bibi, who had also played Yuma 2022 (what a year), has made a comeback in many ways for Coachella 2024.
First and foremost, Michael Bibi has announced a screening that came as cancer-free. When Coachella announced Michael Bibi at the new stage Qusar, the good news only grew. The two monolithic LED walls will certainly be a perfect backdrop for Bibi.
His Yuma performance was, as anyone could expect, a groovy and bumpy ride. His tracks have always managed to make crowds meld together into a singular, head-nodding unit. While all of these artists have made their impacts on the EDM scene individually, Coachella stages have acted as a unique barometer for growing artists.
