Calvin Harris Claps Back at Fans for Backlash of Ultra Performance
Negative comments were made about Calvin Harris’s Ultra set and he was not going to let it slide.
Calvin Harris went off on a person who made comments that his 2024 Ultra performance was not impressive. The two-decade-long DJ explained in a lengthy response why his set was not going to sound commercial and why his original songs are important to play.
The clapback came from a comment on a video of Calvin Harris’s performance on Instagram that said it chose Svdden Death instead. The comment said, “Honestly thought this set was extremely underwhelming, gave it until 9:20 til I called it quits and went to Svdden Death.”
Calvin Harris did not hold back and really expressed himself on why this comment bothered him a lot. “You expect me to play none of my songs? 3 songs since 2014 hmm how deep is your love – billion streams, my way – billion streams, slide – billion streams, feels – billion streams, one kiss – billion streams – and the other 5 half a bill.”
He continued and insisted his music is “not cheesy shit proper f*****g songs with real artists and you’d rather I play Fien trap edits today.. Spent months making new versions of everything for this and you wonder why I never play edm festivals.. At least people I saw irl had a great time and I can be happy with that but f**k at this point whatever I do is gonna p**s you off.”
The person tagged in Calvin Harris’s long comment and felt bad about saying anything negative about his set. He said, “Many apologies. I sent a DM hopefully it reaches you and you get a chance to read it. I’m one person and I can only imagine how many others complain. Your music is great ignore my arrogance.”
Many people would arguably say Calvin Harris effortlessly played his top hits and seamlessly blended his most fan-favorited tracks with his lesser-known gems. Calvin Harris’s set consisted of tracks such as “Summer,” “We Found Love,” and “One Kiss.” He masterfully curated a set that catered to the tastes of Ultra’s diverse audience in the heart of Miami.
