Rainbow Kitten Surprise Announces Continuation of Band Without Charlie Holt
Rainbow Kitten Surprise has announced their return to music but with one less band member.
The band’s return was announced through a note on their Instagram page that first went into how their hiatus stemmed from the lead singer, Ela Melo, struggling with mental health issues. But after spending time contemplating Rainbow Kitten Surprises’ return, they’re excited to start fresh.Â
However, the band will now be without Charlie Holt, its former bassist and they explained their decision to not work with them anymore because Ela “could not find a way to continue working with them.. and the band seriously contemplated calling it quits.”
Rainbow Kitten Surprise did not give an explanation as to why Ela felt this way but added in the note that Charlie is one of a kind and will always be a part of the band’s legacy and can’t be replaced in any of their hearts or minds. On a positive note, Rainbow Kitten Surprise said the band is extra proud of the new songs it has recently created and they will be dropping them soon.
The new songs are said to represent their last collaboration as their original lineup. The note ended with the band saying that support from fans and the community means the world to them and they can’t wait to see everyone on the road.
The post with the announcement also includes a second slide with a note directly from Charlie explaining their feelings on the departure. The bassist said they were so thankful for everyone and all the beautiful moments along the way. They added that this family’s imprint will last a lifetime and it feels impossible to put words to this, but that they have been asked to leave the group.
Charlie said that their exit from Rainbow Kitten Surprise will not be the end of music-making for them, but that they are accepting that this beautiful season has passed. They ended their note with a quote that said, “Don’t let this feeling ever go away. Let this memory forever be inside of me. Through every hour of every day, it’s with the company of these friends. That we drove on through the night. We were carried by the wheel of Armageddon.”
