Loud Luxury Uses Video of Viral ‘Pookie’ Instagram Couple as ‘Fantasy Football Punishment’
Music production duo, Loud Luxury, comes off the end of fantasy football season with dues to pay, in troll style of course!
It comes as no surprise that Andrew Fedyk and Joe Depace of Loud Luxury, appreciate a good troll moment during their vivacious sets. Andrew and Joe post on Instagram, promoting their return to the Brooklyn Mirage, with notice that this iconic troll moment will most likely never make its return to another show.
Starting the first week of September is the start of the NFL season, a peak era in sports where many people partake in Fantasy Football. In this game, groups of friends come together to create a league, in which they create individual imaginary teams, composed of real NFL players. At the end of each week, points are scored based on those players’ actual statistical performance. By the end of the NFL football season, every fantasy football league is brought down to one winner, who is awarded a prize standardized by the group of friends they are playing against. In most cases, whoever is placed last in their league, will be expected to receive a debt to be paid.
In the build-up of Fisher‘s “You Little Beauty”, Loud Luxury incorporates a viral TikTok video featuring a couple who affectionately call each other “Pookie”. As the chorus kicks in, Andrew and Joe use the famous TikTok line “Pookie looks absolutely fire tonight” to build up the anticipation. At the drop, a repetitive explosion of “fire tonight, fire tonight” integrates itself into the lyrics “you got me burning up with your, yeah”, accompanied by a visual explosion of the famous TikTok video.
Instagram fans reacted to Loud Luxury’s Instagram post with controversial opinions on the TikTok troll moment showcased at the show. Some fans such as @jordankz_ argued that the visual display of the TikTok would ruin his personal concert experience. Others, such as @janefrommassachusetts, show support and humor towards Andrew and Joe paying their fantasy football dues. The trolls who get it, understand the niche humor of it all as playful.
