How to Download Music on Spotify
Spotify Premium users can enjoy songs offline by downloading tracks and playlists to the Spotify app.
Are you traveling somewhere without service? No worries – downloading music to listen to without WiFi is a feature for Spotify Premium users. Music and podcasts can be downloaded onto Spotify’s mobile app or a computer that is connected to the Internet.
On a mobile device, click on “Your Library” in the bottom right corner and then any playlist or album. Under the username and just above the “Add songs” button, there is a down arrow in a circle. Clicking on it will cause a loading icon to appear and will eventually change green once the album has successfully downloaded.
Spotify Premium users can also listen offline on a PC or Mac. The process is similar and will require the user to click on an individual album. On the left side of the screen, there is a down arrow under the album cover and next to the green play button.
After pressing the arrow, the tracks will download to the computer. Each song will be consolidated into a playlist that can be accessed via the “Downloaded” tab under “Your Library.” The arrow will change to green when it is downloaded, just like on mobile devices.
To keep playlists downloaded, the user must go onto Spotify while connected to the Internet every 30 days. Those who use the free version of Spotify can download podcasts but not music. As soon as your device goes offline, any downloaded song will remain playable in your library but there is an Offline Mode that users can manually toggle on and off.
Playlists and albums can be downloaded on Spotify, but individual songs cannot be. Users have the power to download up to 10,000 tracks on up to 5 different devices. As soon as the music downloads, you can listen to it anywhere, whether you have service or not.
