Fatboy Slim Receives Award from BIMM University & Launches Scholarship Program
Fatboy Slim has decided to take on new ventures with education and will be supporting emerging musical talent with a scholarship.
The OG DJ was recognized by BIMM University Music Institute in Brighton at its recent graduation ceremony for his immense contribution to dance music internationally and was awarded an Honorary Fellowship to teach at the school. Fatboy Slim also announced that he would be offering a scholarship program for new artists called the Fatboy Slim Martlets Scholarship.
Bimm University said it gives fellowships to people who have had an exceptional impact on the creative industries and that is a great privilege to have him on board. They recognized his talent as an artist, and producer, along with his philanthropic work.
Fatboy Slim’s scholarship program will fully fund the tuition fees for a three-year undergraduate degree to one lucky student starting the 2024-2025 semester. The selection will be based on skill, creative potential, and commitment to a career in the creative industries.
Fatboy Slim is encouraging people who come from low-income households to apply as he wants to support underrepresented creatives. Overall, he wants to break down barriers and support creating a diverse and dynamic community of artists.
During the ceremony, Fatboy Slim offered words of encouragement to the graduates and said: “Don’t ever lose your love of music. Remember that innocent joy and the way that music connects us and go have tons of fun” Bimm University is a school that offers modern music, performing arts, filmmaking, and creative technology to classes that are about 8,000 students.
Fatboy Slim attends festivals and events all around the world and has been DJing since the 1990s. He is known for how he combines elements of electronic music, rock, and hip-hop. His sound is energetic, catchy, and funky with heavy-hitting beats and creative melodies.
