Manchester United Star Gary Neville Slated to DJ Kendal Calling Music Festival
Kendal Calling Music Festival has announced its 2024 lineup with a special b2b set from legendary footballer Gary Neville and frontman Tim Burgess.
Many professional athletes pick up hobbies and industry jobs after their retirement, and many have gone down the music route. From Shaq to Bernie Williams, the crossover between these forms of entertainment has existed for ages. Now, Manchester United star Gary Neville has the spotlight as he’s slated to take the stage at Kendal Calling music festival for a b2b DJ set with Tim Burgess.
Gary Neville joined Manchester United in 1992 and spent his entire career with the club before retiring in 2011. With a career spanning two decades, Neville has become one of the most decorated English and European footballers of all time. Since his retirement, he has coached for Manchester United and Valencia, as well as being a commentator for Sky Sports.
Gary Neville has already accomplished a lot in his career, and now, he is diversifying his interests with a pivot to music. Neville will be joined by The Charlatan’s frontman, Tim Burgess, for a DJ b2b set at Kendal Calling in the UK. This pairing comes as no shock as the two have known each other for years.
The Charlatan’s are an English indie rock band created in 1988. The band is still active with 13 albums and numerous performances under their belt. One of these performances was at Gary Neville’s venue, Hotel Football, in 2015. During the private show, Neville joined The Charlatans on stage to play the guitar.
Kendal Calling will take place August 1-4 in the Lake District of Cumbria, England. The festival will also enlist the help of Paolo Nutini, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, and The Streets to headline the festival.
There is no lack of professional athletes in music, but it has always been exciting to see your favorite players take the stage again. As Kendal Calling will not happen till the latter part of summer, the anticipation will only build for Gary Neville’s b2b with Tim Burgess.
