Daft Punk Sitting on an ‘Unreleased Album’ as Followup to 2013’s Random Access Memories
Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, famously known as Daft Punk, have been keeping something up their sleeves!
Former Daft Punk collaborator, Quinn Smith, reveals on alt. news that the duo allegedly has been sitting on an album that was supposed to be released after 2013’s ‘Random Access Memories’. Although the duo stays secretive with their projects, Quinn has received permission from Thomas and Guy-Manuel to talk about it with one other article.
During the alt.news interview, Quinn Smith goes more in-depth to explain how the album process has been quite experimental in order “to get vibes across”. The skilled percussionist brought over every instrument he owned to Henson Studios for five days to create a whole department. Furthermore, Quinn describes this period as the best work he has done.
Further into the interview, Smith points out one song on the project he currently names “the unnamed record” as “spontaneous”. The drummer elaborates on how his assignment was to answer whatever Thomas gave him to work with.
The Daft Punk member was quite surprised to observe how Quinn’s innovation expanded both of their creative processes. The percussionist highlights a moment where Quinn created an enigmatic sound by using a kick drum to strike against the piano board string
