Honey Dijon Opens Up for Madonna in Her Hometown of Chicago

Madonna has invited Honey Dijon to open for her show at the United Center in Chicago.

Honey Dijon has shared pictures of her and the Queen of Pop holding up scores for performers on stage. The DJ is nothing but laughs and smiles as men and women have been captured voguing for the pair. The recap with a news clip where the anchor had spoken about Honey Dijon opening for Madonna as fans are shown lining up.

The Chicago native has expressed nothing but gratefulness for the opportunity. In particular, she noted the impact that Madonna has had in creating an accepting environment and her support of the queer community. Honey Dijon has been an outspoken activist for queer people as a black transgender woman in the music industry.

“Thank you for your artistry and your unparalleled contribution to music. Thank you for your incredible contribution to culture. Thank you for always using your voice for freedom and liberation,” Honey Dijon wrote regarding Madonna. 

Born in Chicago, Honey Dijon began her music career in 2000 when she began making a name for herself in nightclubs. Since then, the artist has performed at fashion events, in museums, at festivals, and opened Madonna’s Celebration Tour. Her music style consists of a blend of house and techno with prominent influences from the golden era of disco. 

She is a Grammy-winning producer and won DJ Mag’s Best of North America Awards in 2019. On top of solid discography and fun performances, the DJ is consistently pushing for inclusivity in electronic music. She has spoken about her focus on creating an accepting dance space in New York and other large cities.
