Levity Opens Up About Mental Health Struggles and Credits Music as Healing Mechanism
Levity has revealed the brutally honest reason why they create music that involves mental health.
The bass/dubstep trio’s revelation came in a reply post on Twitter to another post that asked: “Why do u make music be brutally honest with yourself, why is “making it” a part of your success, what is success to you.” Levity responded that on multiple occasions music helped them get through hard times and made good times even better.
It seemed one person in the trio made the post and said that music specifically helped save them from suicide. They said they want Levity’s music to reach as many people as possible, in hopes of making any of those healing impacts happen to someone else. Currently, Levity is extremely recognized for their popular track “Flip It.”
Levity then went on about how that’s why all these little “stats” make the difference when it comes to understanding that their music is making an outreach. They said whether it be followers, streams, or anything else meaningful because no matter how big or small those numbers are, it shows that all of them are doing that in some capacity.
The trio added that in addition to being involved in supporting healthy mental health, making music and performing is also “addicting-ly fun.” Levity said they truly love everything they create and want to be able to do it for the rest of their life.
The original post asked why “making it” is part of overall success and Levity said they want to “make it” so they can start making a bigger impact outside of music. This would include creating non-profit organizations to help with mental health resources.
Levity already has plans to get involved with supporting mental health resources. They said their first step in doing so will be donating 50% of their royalties from the month of May to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) even with the little amount of money they are making currently. The group has been official for just three years but making mental health strides is extremely important to them.
