Alesso Releases Highly Requested Interstellar Remix
Alesso has given fans an unexpected gift this holiday season, finally releasing his fan-favorite edit of the Interstellar theme song.
For over two years, Swedish superstar DJ Alesso has teased fans with a gorgeous remix that he and Australian trio Sentinel made of Hans Zimmer’s theme song for the 2014 movie Interstellar. Despite playing the song in his sets at Tomorrowland, Ultra Miami, Creamfields, and many more to much acclaim, he hadn’t officially released the song for fans everywhere to hear it in all its glory. This Christmas, he has finally changed that, posting on Instagram to notify fans that the song has been released on Youtube and Soundcloud.
In the Instagram post, Alesso says that “in the spirit of giving” he has “decided to give everyone a little holiday present” by releasing the track. The post includes clips of him playing it to enormous crowds at Tomorrowland and other festivals, giving a small glimpse into the special moments the song has already created.
The full song jumps right in with an intense tech house soundscape layered over subtle notes of the Interstellar piece. At about the one minute and 50 second mark, the tech house cuts out abruptly and the Interstellar theme slowly builds up to a beautiful peak before the mesmerizing drop arrives nearly two minutes later. The final minute then returns to the underground and grungy tone that began the track.
It’s easy to see why fans immediately took to this remix when Alesso began playing it at his sets. The sharp dichotomy of the elegantly mysterious Hans Zimmer arrangement sandwiched between the grippingly aggressive tech house sections takes the listener on a truly unique journey. Fans that have been clamoring for the release of this track since its debut are undoubtedly thrilled by this surprise holiday gift.
