How Music Festivals Will Evolve in 2024

Music festivals overall have come a long way up to 2023, but what changes can edm lovers expect in 2024?

There are a few subjects that ravers and music festival throwers seem to insist on being advanced in the new year, while others are happening as technology and music upgrade on their own. Either way, there will definitely be some new evolvements to keep an eye out for when attending your next 2024 festival.

EDM has grown to whole new heights, more than ever, right now, and it’s the best time to really soak up what it has to offer at music festivals with higher security, better production, hygiene, trinkets, and more technology all to look forward to as well. Here is a breakdown of how festivals will evolve in 2024.

Advanced production

Festival-goers can expect to indulge themselves in some of the best productions electronic dance music has been able to offer in 2024. The proof behind major production upgrades comes as you can see tons of major artists emphasizing that they will be taking this to the next level. For example, the effect that Afterlife/Eric Prydz shows from 2022 had on 2023 has now inspired tons of artists to add more of a visual experience as well.

Some include Tchami and Malaa with their new “The Line” show which is visually focused and includes two men sword fighting on giant screens. Along with LSDREAM who just finished his Radical Audio Visual Experience tour which emphasizes visuals in the title. Another one to keep an eye out for is John Summit who just recently threw an epic production at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles that included a customized stage and light pillars in the audience.

upgraded restROOMS

The people are calling for better restrooms non-stop. Some are even paying extra for GA-plus/VIP just to have better restrooms. But there has still been an emphasis on improving the restroom situation for GA goers as well, along with having them be cleaner for GA-plus/VIP.

However, it has been raved that specifically the port-a-potties need to go, or that they need to be cleaned better consistently/be upgraded. It seems there has been more action toward this in 2023, but having dirty/low-quality bathrooms in 2024 is just not gonna cut it or give a festival a bad rep.

GUN/bomb SECURITY

Unfortunately, this has to be emphasized in 2024 due to the multiple instances that have occurred in 2023. This includes the shooting at Beyond Wonderland, someone waving a gun around at Ezoo, and more. Also, Lost Lands had dogs on site this year that we’re especially trained to look out for just guns/bombs and this will most likely have a ripple effect on other festivals to do the same.

MORE TECHNOLOGY

Festival goers can also expect that digital tickets will most likely be making their way into more events this year. Implementing digital tickets puts less emphasis on wrist bands which are loved by most ravers, but do come with some issues like switching bands out, losing them, or fraud, which creates issues for everyone.

A few festivals this year including Arc Music Festival and more have completely gotten rid of scannable wristbands and made tickets scannable from phones. Better technology with festivals is also showing up in using more augmented reality, live-streaming festivals, and using social media to promote EDM.

TRINKETS

Trinkets have now infiltrated the rave scene completely where people love to give out little toys and sprouts in a PLUR fashion. The little bundles of joy started to become popular in 2022 and became favored by most in 2023. Ravers can expect to see the trinkets that people hand out to each other take the next step with more variations and more people getting involved in giving them out.
