Nicki Minaj to Embark on World Tour for New Album Pink Friday 2
Nicki the Ninja, Nicki the Harajuku Barbie, Nicki the Queen of Rap and everything in between has announced a world tour for her latest album Pink Friday 2.
The announcement of the Pink Friday 2 Tour comes only a week after the release of Pink Friday 2, her first official album in five years. The album features hit singles like “Super Freaky Girl” and “Red Ruby Da Sleaze.” “Super Freaky Girl” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 when it was released in 2022. Since then, Minaj has also dropped the nostalgic mixtape “Beam Me Up Scotty,” debuting nostalgic Nicki Minaj mixtape bars on streaming platforms.
The album is the follow-up to her best-selling debut LP Pink Friday, which changed not only the trajectory of Nicki’s career but inspired a whole new generation of female rappers afterward. The music video to the single “Super Bass” was the first by any female rapper to hit 1 billion views on YouTube.
Her global stardom has crossed over into other genres as well including EDM. The iconic rapper has had smash hits that have dominated the summer charts including “Pound the Alarm” produced by RedOne and “Turn Me On” with David Guetta.
Throughout her career, Nicki Minaj became the first woman to have 100 songs hit the Billboard Hot 100 list. Pink Friday 2 also features other hitmakers like Lil Wayne, Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, and more. The 22-track long album opens with a nod to Nicki’s current life as a mother and veteran in the rap game.
On the opening song “Are You Gone Already” you can hear Nicki speaking to her son whom she affectionately nicknamed “Papa Bear.” She then raps over a sped-up version of the Billie Eilish track “When The Party’s Over.” Reminiscent of emotional album openers like “All Things Go” on her 2014 album ‘The Pinkprint,’ Nicki appears to be introducing a new chapter of her story to her fans through the music.
The tour will hit cities across North America and Europe, in addition to an exclusive festival performance that is soon to be announced. General tickets for this highly-anticipated tour are officially on sale now on her website.
