Rising Bass and Dubstep Acts to Watch in 2024

Dubstep is so back. After a major year, many new rising artists have entered the scene and are prepared for domination in 2024.

What a year it has been for bass and dubstep. The bass music scene has exploded during 2023 with many rising artists’ SoundCloud IDs being dropped in big-name sets such as Zeds Dead, LSDream, Excision, and Subtronics. Additionally, the ever-growing social media sphere on Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram has helped catapult careers.

The electronic music industry is very welcoming for small-name artists to be able to grow and expand. We’ve compiled a list of promising bass music acts to keep an eye on in 2024 and beyond – in no particular order.

1. Levity

Levity is a Chicago-based trio that made headlines when they brought their USB to Electric Forest. The true vibe of Electric Forest is the Forest gives back and their set embodied this. After getting word that they were going to be playing a last-minute 360 set on the Honeycomb stage, two of the trio were able to take the stage. No strangers to crowd-pleasing as they have opened for big names in Chicago, Levity was ready. They have since been signed to Deadbeats with their first single on the label being ‘Flip It.’

2. Lumasi

Lumasi is a bass DJ and producer who dropped his first single on Spotify in 2020. Lumasi has been on fire since then. With multiple flips on SoundCloud including a mega-wub flip of Faded by Tyga, he garnered the attention of the wub king, LSDream. LSDream dropped Lumasi’s remix to his track, ‘FOLLOW THE VIBE,’ at his Red Rocks show a few weeks back with Lumasi in the crowd to experience this epic moment. Lumasi shared a TikTok of this memorable experience and has since released his remix under the Wakaan label.

3. Sharlitz Web

Sharlitz Web is dark, she’s heady and she’s almost transcendent of space and time. Sharlitz Web brings the wubs with a hypnotic sound that is almost eerie, ominous, and trance-like. After suffering a tragedy in her life where she lost her sister and best friend, she channeled her pain into music and that is how Sharlitz Web evolved. Having a musical background her music from childhood and experience with various instruments, her sound is almost like being caught in a spider web. Her most recent EP “Plexured Minds,” was released on Wakaan.

4. Alleycvt

ALLEYCVT has had a wild year, from festivals to opening massive shows. Hailing from Northern Virginia, ALLEYCVT’s sound is experimental and sexy. Blending vocals and heady drops, she has carved a niche that has attracted the interest of Zeds Dead, Subtronics, and Ganja White Night. One of her upcoming shows is an earlier set at the Philidelphia-based bass and dubstep festival, Hijinx, where she will play alongside big names like Rezz, Deadmau5, and Of The Trees. Her latest single ‘Glitch’ was released on Deadbeats.

5. Tape B

Hey! I'm Shiv! Music is the greatest part of my life, I remember discovering dubstep when I was 15/16 and my entire life was altered - robot noises?? I needed MORE! Now, I live in NYC and have seen over 60 artists of all genres; my favorites being Odesza, Subtronics, Rezz, Griz, Zeds Dead, John Summit and Kaskade. I am an enjoyer of music and will try everything once, I do not discriminate - there is beauty in all genres (minus country). You can usually find me in a warehouse at 4AM because I am nocturnal and will quite literally never say no to a show.

What's your reaction?
