Exron Exclusive Interview: NotLö at Hulaween

We had the pleasure of sitting down with beloved bass DJ NotLö at Hulaween this year to discuss her new project, ‘Night Terrors & Dreamscapes,’ a two-part EP.

Suwanne Hulaween–as creepy, eerie, and spooky as it is–is the perfect place for NotLö to unleash her bass-infused fury onto fans. As one of the hottest names in the dubstep space right now, she performed at the Spirit Lake stage on Sunday. We chatted with NotLö prior to her performance.

We began by asking NotLö how it felt to be back at Hulaween, after performing a sought-after b2b set with collaborator Veil on the same stage during a previous year. As a native of the southeast, NotLö revealed that she’s been coming to Hulaween with friends for years. This year marks a major milestone for the artist, as she performed a solo set at a festival that clearly holds such a special place in her heart.

However, the real reason we wanted to chat with NotLö is because she’s just announced what might be the biggest news for her career as a producer–a brand new, two-part EP. The first part of the EP, ‘Night Terrors’ has already been released. It includes four tracks, each with a distinct sound yet holistically leaning on the darker side, timed perfectly with spooky season.

On the other hand, ‘Dreamscapes’ explores the more fantastical side of NotLö’s production capabilities. NotLö discusses this dichotomy in detail with us during our conversation. ‘Dreamscapes’ is set for release on November 17th, with the lead single “Found You” having been released today.

To celebrate this monumental moment in her career, NotLö will be performing at Denver’s iconic Meow Wolf venue on the upcoming release day. After that, she tells us that she’s excited to see what 2024 has in store for her project.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
