Exron Exclusive Interview: Jason Leech at Hulaween
Making his Suwannee Hulaween debut, keyboardist and producer Jason Leech chats with Exron about everything from his early days with music to his current status as a career DJ in the EDM world.
During our trip to Hulaween 2023, we had the privilege of spending some time catching up with Jason Leech following his set. Jason Leech is an extremely talented keyboardist, producer, DJ, and writer currently based out of Louisville. He mentioned that this was his first time at Hulaween, and that he absolutely loved it. “It’s definitely the best people-watching festival,” according to Jason.
Jason’s performance on Friday evening at the Spirit Lake stage was nothing short of spectacular. With his keyboard as the centerpiece, he quickly captivated passersby, instantly drawing them into his one-of-a-kind show. What truly sets Jason apart is his ability to seamlessly blend the elegance of the piano with the pulsating beats of our favorite EDM tunes, creating an experience that can’t be found elsewhere.
Jason Leech frequently collaborayes with other producers in the dance music space. Notably, he’s joined forces with CloZee for “Farewell” and Luzcid for “Magic,” as he’s no stranger to bass music.
However, what Jason’s probably most well-known for is his keyboard remix videos. He frequently reworks songs by artists like Zeds Dead, LSDREAM, and Daily Bread, originally getting his big break after artists began to share his work with their audiences. (Psst, Jason revealed in our interview that he does in fact have a favorite remix he’s recently worked on.)
It seems like Jason Leech is regularly hitting milestones in his career. Besides playing Hulaween this past weekend and performing an epic set at Electric Forest in 2022, Jason can now also check off Red Rocks from his list. He briefly shared his story of experiencing this iconic venue for the first time with us.
In addition to his recent accolades and early history with music, Jason spoke to us a bit about the future. He’s currently gearing up for a tour with Sunsquabi next month and mentioned that fans might expect to see something different than what they’re used to from his sets during the tour. Looking into 2024, he also hinted at the possibility of an album with all original music.
