Growing up in South London, Gibson attended a private boarding school named Marlborough College, located in Wiltshire, England. How does this answer– where is Fred again from? Even though he was writing songs at the age of six, there was “something missing” as he stated in his Apple Music interview. The talented producer then started his professional musical career at the age of 16, when he joined an acapella group at Brian Eno’s studio in London. This would take him under Brian Eno’s wing where he collaborated as a co-producer and songwriter with Eno and Karl Hyde on their two project albums Someday World and High Life

Fred’s interview with Apple Music describes his time with Eno as an experience he truly cherishes due to Eno’s ability to retain a childlike wonder and curiosity about producing music. Eno pushed the talented producer to take off with his musical ideas and create them into reality with intention. There are no boundaries when it comes to Fred’s musical abilities; the talented artist has a unique sound that is conveyed around house, techno, alternative, and garage music.

Four years into his journey, Gibson would come to co-write songs that would reach number one, co-write with talented artists such as Clean Bandit, Demi Lovato, FKA Twigs, Stromzy,  Rita Ora, and Ed Sheeran. Through his rise in fame, Fred began to work on his own projects such as Actual Life, where he would artistically piece together samples of personal voice memos, clips from social media, and music by other artists into original tracts. Famous songs from this project include “Marea (we’ve lost dancing)”. The popular hit single comes from a deconstructed monologue from the DJ The Blessed Madonna, where she mourns the pandemic’s impact on the dance music industry, conveying a message of hope and human connection.

By the year 2020, Gibson won Producer of the Year at the Brit Awards 2020 as the youngest producer to ever win the title. This award is known to be voted for by a group of industry-wide A&R executives that would be finalized by Music Producer’s Grid. Notably, Fred’s rise in fame in his solo career blew up during the COVID-19 pandemic, a place in time when club music was its least popular due to the pandemic shutdown of nightlife and live music events.

Fred Again’s famous Boiler Room in London

If you know, you know that what would send Sir Fred Again onto the grid with all eyes on him is his famous debut Boiler Room set in London. A highlight moment that circulated throughout all social media platforms was when an individual accidentally stopped Fred’s performance with a clumsy slip of Fred’s control. With suave grace and a smile on his face, Fred brushed off the accident and immediately brought back the party in full force, catapulting a historic boiler room moment that would go down in history for times to come. At this moment, the whole world would know who Fred Again is.

As Fred Again continues to climb up further as an artist, this will surely not be the last time you hear about the talented producer. Fred Again is known to bring the heat to his live shows with his high-energy music, vivacious energy, and unpredictability in where the night will go. Yoooo, the homies call me Marz. I am a multidimensional Piscean Latina fairy from Miami-Dade County (no, not Florida). Electronic music has allowed me to appreciate the profound beauty that can be found in finding peace within the chaos. Artists such as Rezz, Skrillex, John Summit, Michael Bibi, and Amtrac blend the two seamlessly, creating a harmonious balance that resonates with me whenever I am on the dancefloor. When I am writing about electronic music, I feel this same balance of peace and chaos moving through me - starting in my hips, filling my heart, and radiating out from my soul. The power of music has brought me to this exact moment, and I only desire that you feel the warmth of the sun through my words.
