Who is fknsyd?

Who is REZZ’s fiancé Sydney Fisher, a.k.a fknsyd? For starters, she has produced music too… and she’s pretty darn good at it!

Our favorite Canadian female DJ, REZZ is getting married and we’re over the moon for her and her partner! Formally known as Isabelle Rezazadeh, REZZ has captivated the music community with her hypnotic bass-laden beat patterns. And although her dating life was previously no stranger to the public eye, the DJ opted for a different approach with her now-fiancée Sydney, a.k.a fknsyd.

Rezz and Sydney (or Syd) kept their relationship private while dating, only sharing with the world upon their engagement’s announcement. Furthermore, despite their recent hard launch, the loving couple maintains a fairly low profile – likely on purpose.

To celebrate the engagement, REZZ shared on Instagram, “We have kept things quite private, but I wanted to share this with you all. I’m the luckiest to be with the cutest, intellectual, sweetest, empathetic, funniest, earthy, talented, angelic girl.” Accompanying this post was a series of adorable pictures of the two hugging and embracing, happy as can be.

But Sydney isn’t just a regular fiancée, she’s a cool fiancée. Akin to her wife-to-be, Syd is also a DJ/ producer and artist, dropping music under the stage name “fknsyd”. Furthermore, her collab roster boasts impressive artists such as Slander, Hex Cougar, Wavedash, Manilla Killa, and of course REZZ.

Fknsyd and REZZ collaborated on their remix ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),’ which now has 8+ million Spotify streams. Her other collaboration on REZZ’s Spiral album, titled ‘Let Me In,’ has more than seven million streams on Spotify. Most recently in 2023 fknsyd dropped her first album ‘Taste.test,’ replete with nine amazing tracks – an ethereal debut for her burgeoning career in electronic dance music

Despite her successful collaborations with noteworthy artists over the course of her career, this album solely features her vocals and production. Fknsyd’s album unquestionably represents a deep dive into who she is as an artist, her sound, and her vision. Every song is breathy and airy, similar to Grimes’ tonality and production.

Ultimately, we continue to know relatively little about fknsyd apart from her periodic posts on Instagram and Twitter. Nonetheless, we can only hope to catch a glimpse of REZZ and Syd’s wedding photos when the time comes. To learn more about fknsyd, click here.

Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 10+ years now. I have always had a knack for writing and the power of words, which I continued cultivating through a Philosophy degree in college. Now a law school graduate, I eventually hope to merge my passions by working in music law. I am an avid traveler and am certainly not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My next bucket list festivals to attend are Tomorrowland in Belgium and Sonus in Croatia. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists include Franky Wah, Mochakk, Kevin de Vries, and Eli Brown.
